Things aren’t always perfect
Cake smash day is HERE!!! Today, the sun was shining. A beautiful 76 degree sunny day here in North East, Ohio. I drove to pick up the cake (the day) of which was different then normal, but this time of the year has been extremely busy. Today my husband needed my car, so I was driving his Camaro. Windows down and music up, I was enjoying this beautiful day. I get to my cake artist’s house, get the cake from him, admire it, and pop it in the trunk then I’m on my way! Rolled the windows up blasted the air and dove like a granny with precious cargo all the way to the studio. I pulled up to the studio, popped the trunk, and I literally gasped! The cake had melted!! My heart sank! I tried to put in the cooler to get see if I could salvage it. When I realized there was nothing I could do, I panicked. I called Sean and asked him what I could do to salvage the cake. He had offered to make me a whole new one 😭😭. I called my clients and told them what happened and lucky for us, they had been running late due to napping situation. It all seemed to be falling into place. Brittany went to get the cake and was able to drop it off right before they showed up. We started with family pictures to get our little man to warm up to me. During the family pictures he threw up! He tried Panda Expeess for the first time today and it upset his tummy!! He wanted momma to hold him since he didn’t feel good. We decided to reschedule the cake smash. It’s not only about cute pictures but I want your baby to enjoy the experience!! The moral of this story: Every session doesn’t run like a Pinterest, Instagram, or Facebook post. Real life is like what happened today. Does every session run like this? NO, but when it does, do not stress!! There is also no need to apologize for your baby! These things happen. Your baby may have a meltdown from the texture of frosting. Your baby might love it. Your baby may want you to be close to them. Your baby may not care. Every session is unique and somedays are just not our days!
